Nominator's project description

Vladimir Berkovich is the internationally acclaimed founder of a new field of research in mathematics. He invented a theory of analytic spaces over fields with a non-Archimedean absolute value. These spaces are called Berkovich spaces today, and they have found a variety of important applications. During his stay in Germany, Professor Berkovich will continue his fundamental work. He is hosted by Professor Annette Werner at Goethe University, Frankfurt, and by Professor Walter Gubler at the University of Tübingen.
